Sel korral krooniti vĂ”itjaks Poolas WrocƂawi ĂŒlikooli botaanikaaia sĂŒdameks kujunenud pöögipuu. Teisele kohale hÀÀletas rahvas vihmavarjukujulise pöögi Prantsusmaalt ning kolmandaks tuhande-aastase oliivipuu Itaaliast. Eestit esindanud vÀÀrika ajalooga Viiralti tamm sai vĂ”istlusel 12. koha. Kokku anti tĂ€navusel Euroopa aasta puu vĂ”istlusel 174 112 hÀÀlt, neist 39 158 kogus endale Poola pöök. Euroopa aasta puu tiitlile kandideeris 15 puud. „Puudele antud hÀÀlte jagunemine nĂ€itab, et tugevam rebimine kĂ€is esiviisikus, see-eest kohad 6–16 jagunesid oluliselt vĂ”rdsema hÀÀltesaagiga,“ kommenteeris Ain NĂ€kk Loodushoiu Fondist. „VĂ”istluslik moment on kĂŒll tore, aga kogu konkursi eesmĂ€rk on siiski esile tĂ”sta kĂ”iki neid erilisi puid ning julgustada inimesi Euroopas reisides harrastama ka puuturismi – vaatama oma silmaga ĂŒle kĂ”iki neid pĂ”nevaid puid, mida europuu vĂ”istlus aasta-aastalt esile toob.“ Poola on Euroopa aasta puu konkursi kinni pannud ka varem – eelmisel aastal kuulutati vĂ”tjaks huvitava kujuga Fabrykanti tamm, aasta varem BiaƂowieĆŒa ĂŒrgmetsa valvav tamm. Eesti on kahel eelmisel aastal saanud europuu vĂ”istlusel 13. koha, ĂŒhel korral on Eesti vĂ”istluse ka vĂ”itnud – 2015. aastal viis Heiki Hanso sĂŒdi töö vĂ”idule Orissaare jalgpallivĂ€ljaku keskel kasvava tamme. TĂ€navusel vĂ”istlusel Eestit esindanud Viiralti tamm kasvab Viljandimaal Vana-Võidu külas ning on nime saanud Eduard Wiiralti kuivnĂ”eltehnikas gravüüri „Viljandi maastik“ järgi. Teos valmis 81 aastat tagasi ja oli Eduard Wiiralti ĂŒks viimaseid Eestis valminud töid. Viiralti tamme kohalik ja vanem nimi on Tamme Goori tamm, see nimi tuleneb puu naabruses elanud isepäise Tamme talu peremehe Grigori järgi. Eesti osalemist Euroopa aasta puu valimisel korraldab Loodushoiu Fond. Fondi eesmĂ€rk on turgutada vabatahtlikku ja eraalgatuslikku loodushoidu Eestis, mh vÀÀrtustada meie tĂ€helepanuvÀÀrseid pĂ€rand- ja pĂ”lispuid. Selleks kutsub Loodushoiu Fond maaomanikke ĂŒles liituma pĂ”lispuude hoidjate kogukonnaga, kuhu kuuluvad maaomanikud lubavad sĂ€ilitada oma metsades, pĂ”llusiiludel, koduaedades ja mujal kasvavaid pĂ”lispuid. Kogukonnaga on praeguseks liitunud 239 maaomanikku, kelle hoole all on kokku ligi 122 000 hektarit maad. Euroopa aasta puu 2024 konkursil vĂ”istelnud puudele antud hÀÀled: Lisatud foto Euroopa 2024. aasta puust – Poola pöögist.
